History


"Initiative for Social Change" (ISC) is a non-governmental, non-profit legal entity founded on March 20, 2013. The founders of the organization are young women who have academic degrees in social work and education accompanied with several years of work experience in social and gender issues. The organization was foundedin order to develop initiatives that would bring positive social changes to various vulnerable groups.



Vision/Mission


"Initiative for Social Change" (ISC) is a non-governmental organization with a mission to promote development of empowerment-oriented services and sustainable positive changes for the welfare and protection ofinterests of vulnerable social groups. The activities of the organization contributes to the creation of an environment where all people have opportunities to realize their potential.

Our activities are based on the principles of social justice, gender equality and co-participation. We believe that each individual is unique and the diversity of people is a significant resource for community development.

Our team

Nino Kobalia

Nino is a chair of the board of the ISC. Nino is a trainer-consultant and holds a Master's Degree in Education Policy from Tbilisi State University (TSU). She is a graduate of the certificated program in psychology from the Georgian Institute of Public Affairs (GIPA). She worked on social and educational issues in both public and non-governmental sectors for 10 years. Nino, as a trainer/consultant, works on adult education and social skills during the last years









Tamar Ivaniadze

Tamar is a member of the board of ISC. She has a master’s degree in Social Work from Tbilisi State University (TSU). She is one of the fellows of the Human Rights Advocates Program (HRAP) 2020-21 at the Institute for study human Rights (ISHR), Columbia University. At various times, she worked with international and local non-governmental organizations in the field of child protection and social welfare as a project manager, trainer-consultant, professional supervisor, and practitioner social worker. Tamar has 14 years of practical experience in the provision of consulting services, training, research, and assessment.



Nino Demetrashvili

Nino is a member of the board of the organization "Initiative for Social Changes". She graduated from the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences at the Tbilisi State University. In 2012, she was awarded a Master's degree in social work from the same university. Nino has 14 years of work experience, both in the non-governmental and in public institutions in the positions of the researcher/research consultant, project manager, trainer and social worker. Since 2016, she became a member of the special preventive group of the Public Defender of Georgia, under which she is involved in the monitoring of human rights conditions in the closed institutions.



Nino Danelia

Nino is a member of the board of ISC. Nino has a master's and a bachelor's degree in social work from Tbilisi State University. Currently, she is pursuing a master's degree in education (teaching, technology, and society) at the University of Bristol, UK. Nino is a winner of the US professional Fellow's Program (2014). Through which she completed a fellowship on child abuse topics at the Chicago Children's Advocacy Center (USA). Nino has 14 years of working experience in child protection and welfare, child and adult safeguarding, school and community empowerment, and non-formal education fields. In different years, Nino has been employed in the public and non-profit sectors as a social worker, trainer-consultant, researcher, organizational and community mobilizer, child protection coordinator, and professional supervisor.


David Tugushi

Financial Manager - David holds an education in product quality audit from the Tbilisi Technical University. He is proficient in various accounting programs and has ten years of experience as a financial manager in non-governmental sectors, as well as public agencies and private sectors.
